Ahead of results, class 10 and 12 students get free career guidance

AS MANY AS 1,000 STUDENTS, PARENTS AND TEACHERS ATTENDED THE ZOOM WEBINAR ORGANISED BY ICS AND DSEJ

LUCKNOW : At a time when class 10 and 12 students await their results after exams were cancelled due to the pandemic, Institute for Career Studies (ICS) and Directorat­e of School Education Jammu (DSEJ) facilitate­d free and comprehens­ive career guidance for them through a special webinar on Saturday. As many as 1,000 students, parents and teachers attended the Zoom event that was also streamed live on social media.

Speaking on “Be future ready with your best-fit subject, course and career choices”, Dr Amrita Dass, the founder-director, ICS, busted widespread myths related to educationa­l and career choices and answered scores of queries from class 10 and 12 students regarding their immediate next step and long-term career plans.

She guided class 10 students on selecting the right subject combinatio­n and focusing on their interests and abilities. For class 12 students, she shared the importance of choosing the right course on the right campus at the bachelor’s level for a fulfilling and meaningful career.

Post-Covid career trends, scholarshi­ps, country-wise studies abroad scenario, rising significan­ce of liberal arts and the role of parental support to students’ success were also discussed at the event. Dr Ravi Shankar Sharma, director, School Education Jammu, was the chief patron at the webinar.

Romesh Sharma, head, counsellin­g cell, DSEJ, moderated the session and the Q&A round in which many students from rural Jammu shared their queries and concerns.

This event was another step in the ICS-DSEJ collaborat­ion. Earlier, DSEJ had placed ICS’ free career guidance app on their education portal to benefit students from the region.
