Spl Court charges Atiq in 2 cases
PRAYAGRAJ: The Special Court MP and MLA framed charges against former MP Atiq Ahmad for murder and criminal conspiracy in two separate criminal cases.
Ahmad is presently lodged in Ahmedabad jail of Gujarat. He was present before the court through video conferencing.
The first case was related to murder of one Jitendra Kumar under Prayagraj’s Dhoomanganj police station, which had taken place in 2016.
Jitendra Kumar alias Munna was shot dead when he was going towards NCR headquarters from Rajrooppur on July 11, 2016. It is alleged that Jitendra was threatened and asked not to pursue a case relating to land dispute.
The mother of the deceased Surajkali had lodged FIR in this case. Later, the police submitted chargesheet against Atiq and others.
The special court took cognizance of the chargesheet and framed charges against Ahmad for murder, criminal conspiracy, common intention, unlawful assembly and other.
In another case, one Alkama and Surjeet were shot dead on September 25, 2015, at Mariadeeh
under Dhoomanganj police station. It is alleged that Ahmad with the help of Abid killed both Alkama and Surjeet.
The police had also submitted chargesheet in this case against Ahmad and his supporters. The Special Judge MP and MLA, Alok Kumar Srivastava took cognizance of the chargesheet and framed charges against Ahmad for committing murder, criminal conspiracy, riot and unlawful armed assembly.
During the entire proceedings, Ahmad, who was present through video conferencing, requested for trial of these cases.
