NOIDA: The Noida authority’s pass system for entry to its main administrative building in Sector 6 should be removed in the next three days, and the common people should be allowed to enter the office without any time restriction, vice-chairman of the National Commission for Backward Classes (NCBC), Dr Lokesh Kumar Prajapati, told the authority on Thursday.

Prajapati, who pulled up the authority officials for “not taking care” of marginalised communities, including people from the backward classes and farmers — who have given their land for developmental constructions — said during a meeting held at Indira Gandhi Kala Kendra in Sector 6 on Thursday that he has received several complaints on the issue. He also asked the authority to appoint a dedicated officer, according to the rules, to address people’s grievances at the earliest.

People cannot enter the building after 1.30pm without a permission from a senior official. 2,000 people visit the office daily. “Why do they need a pass? The Noida authority is not a legislative assembly. We will take strict action against the authority if the pass system is not removed,” said Prajapati. He also told the authority staff “not to harass farmers by demolishing their Abadi areas in villages arbitrarily, but rather form a backward class union, provide cheap housing for backward class employees and ensure they are vaccinated under a quota.
