AGRA : A case was registered against a court clerk in Uttar Pradesh’s Etah district on Thursday for allegedly forging the signatures of two judges and getting two accused released, the police said on Saturday.

“The case has been registered against clerk Manoj Kumar under Sections 420, 467, 468 and 471 of the Indian Penal Code at Kotwali police station of Etah. The police are investigating the matter and would arrest him soon,” said Subhash Singh, in-charge of Etah Kotwali police station.

Singh said the accused Manoj Kumar had allegedly forged the signatures of additional district judge (Etah) Kumar Gaurav on “rihai parwana” (release letter) to get Umesh Kumar of Hathras, an accused under the POCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act), released on November 7, 2020.

Similarly, on December 9, 2020, he again forged the signature of additional district judge Kailash Kumar to get Vikas Baghel, also an accused under POCSO Act, released. In this instance too, the accused clerk forged the signature of the judge on “rihai parwana” (release letter) and made it appear as origi

nal.

When the matter came to the fore, district and sessions judge Mradulesh Kumar Singh ordered a probe by additional district judge Kailash Kumar.

The ADJ submitted his report on February 15, 2021 following which the case was registered in compliance with an administrative order dated July 16, 2021, Singh said.

Manoj Kumar was working with the court of ADJ (POCSO Act) Etah in the first instance and on the second occasion he was working with ADJ (Special Court) at Etah.
