Temp soars, warm spell to continue in UP
LUCKNOW : Absence of rain in the last 24 hours led to increase in temperature across the state on Saturday. In state capital, the maximum temperature rose to 37 degrees as the sky remained clear for most part of the day.
Likewise, most other parts of the state reported similar weather conditions with rain in fewer than eight districts. “The average temperature in Uttar Pradesh rose by two degrees on Saturday due to absence of rain in last 24 hours. Banda and Prayagraj districts recorded maximum temperature of 42 degrees Celsius in the state,” said director, state MeT department, JP Gupta. He further said the weather across state will remain same in the next three days.
“The monsoon will resume again around Tuesday. Till then, the weather in UP will remain warm with high humidity. The maximum temperature is also expected to rise in the coming days,” Gupta added.
According to forecast issued by Indian meteorological department, Uttar Pradesh, the monsoon will stage a comeback from west UP districts on Monday and will cover most parts of central and west UP by Wednesday. Lucknow and nearby districts may experience heavy rain on coming Tuesday and Wednesday.
As per IMD data, the state recorded an average rainfall of 41 mm this week. Most of the rainfall was concentrated in districts of west and central UP. The state has recorded 5% less rainfall than normal till date this monsoon. The west UP districts have also recorded below average rain this year so far.
