EWS ADMISSION

Upon receiving complaints from several parents, the state education department in July this year asked private schools to admit all EWS students allotted to them by the department. Schools seeking an exemption in the category due to lesser number of general admissions would have to approach district education department officials and show that they made all efforts to fill their general category seats.

ONLINE DEVICES

After an NGO moved the high court in May last year asking pvt schools to provide devices, internet reimbursem­ent to EWS students for online classes, pvt schools and the govt locked horns over bearing the costs. Pvt schools said the govt must reimburse the costs, as per RTE norms, but state officials said it would ‘open up a Pandora’s Box of reimbursem­ent...‘

TRANSFER CERTIFICAT­E

Earlier this month, deputy CM Sisodia said parents who wanted to shift their ward from private to state government schools due to economic constraint­s will not be required to produce a transfer certificat­e, which the education department would get from schools.

TUITION FEE COLLECTION

Keeping the financial distress due to the pandemic in mind, DoE in April last year said pvt schools could only charge tuition fee till the lockdown was in effect. A pvt schools body moved HC and was in June allowed to collect annual fees with a 15% deduction in 6 installmen­ts

FEE HIKE

In 2016 following a Delhi HC order, Delhi government said private schools on DDA land would have to seek prior sanction from the education department before increasing student fee and submit detailed proposals in the matter, mainly to tackle misuse of funds. Other schools too would have to submit the details post fee hike.
