SC, not BJP, behind Ram Temple construction: SC Mishra
PRAYAGRAJ: National general secretary of Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) Satish Chandra Mishra on Monday said the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) was trying to gain political benefit from the Ram temple issue and was actually not interested in constructing it.
Mishra was addressing a ‘Prabudh Varg Sammellan’ (enlightened class convention) organised at a guest house of Saidabad area in trans-Ganga region of Prayagraj. These conventions being organised across the state by the BSP are being viewed as a bid by the Mayawatiled party to woo the influential Brahmin community ahead of the 2022 UP Assembly elections.
The BSP leader said that the Ram temple in Ayodhya was getting constructed on the orders of the Supreme Court of India and the BJP government had no contribution in it.
“People are demanding that the BJP share details of the money collected and spent in the name of the Ram temple, but they are shying away from it. If they had been so determined to get the Ram temple constructed at Ayodhya, they would have made a law and done so rather than waiting for the Supreme Court to give its ruling,” he maintained. Mishra said that BJP was not keen on getting the temple constructed as then it would no longer be able to seek votes on its name. Speaking at the meet convened to discuss ‘Respect, security and progress of the Brahmin community’, Mishra said that the ruling BJP was committing atrocities on Brahmins.
He raised the Kanpur’s Bikru ambush incident of July 3, 2020,that left eight policemen, including a deputy SP and three sub-inspectors saying that the BJP did not allow Khushi Dubey, wife of one of the main accused Amar Dubey to get out on bail despite her not being involved in the incident. He also accused that UP CM Yogi Adityanath of promoting a policy of harassing Brahmins, getting their encounters done and putting them in jails. Instead of ‘Ram Rajya’, its Jungle raj in UP, he said.
Claiming that members of both the Brahmin and the Dalit communities were upset and scared under the present state government because of its various policies and action of past four-and-a-half-years, MIshra urged members of the Brahmin community to unite and increase their strength.
“Brahmins in Uttar Pradesh comprise 13% of the total population which means there are 3 crore Brahmins alone out of the state’s 25 crore population. If members of the Brahmin community in place of getting divided and be scattered get united, no one can harm them or their interests and no government can get formed without them,” he added. Prominent among those present in the convention included former UP minister Nakul Dubey, former MLA Ram Shiromani Shukla and former Block Pramukh Narendra Kumar Tripathi.
