Prostituti­on racket busted in Dehradun, 11 people arrested

DEHRADUN: Police claimed to bust a prostituti­on racket operating from Patel Nagar of Dehradun on Monday night with arrest of 11 people, including six women.

All the accused have been booked under relevant sections of the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act, police said on Tuesday.

According to police, main accused Abhishek Kushwaha, 32, a resident of Delhi, was running the racket in an apartment, where his customers used to come.

Dehradun senior superinten­dent of police Yogendra Singh Rawat said, “The racket was busted after police raided the apartment on Monday night after receiving inputs on same.”

“Based on the informatio­n, when police raided the apartment, five men and as many women were found in objectiona­ble positions.

Main accused Kushwaha was also there who was nabbed.

“During questionin­g, he told police that he used to send women from the apartment to his customers in the city, Rishikesh

and Mussoorie. However, for the last few months, he was running the racket in the apartment only,” said Rawat.

Rawat said Kushwaha also informed police that he used to take bookings from his customers on Whatsapp groups where he used to share photograph­s of the women involved in the racket.

“All the accused were booked under relevant sections of Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act and were produced before a court on Tuesday which later sent them to jail,” he said.
