Left-out eligible beneficiar­ies to be covered during the drive

VARANASI: Aimed at covering the left-out eligible beneficiar­ies under the Ayushman Bharat scheme in Varanasi district, a ‘Ayushman Card fortnight’ began here on Monday. Chief medical officer Dr VB Singh flagged off a bike rally to create awareness among the people about the benefits of Ayushman Card.

Dr Singh said, “Ayushman Pakhwada, which started in the district on Monday, will continue till August 8. During the fortnight, it is necessary to make Ayushman Card of all the members of the left-out beneficiar­y families so that they can get the benefit of the government scheme.”

The beneficiar­ies of Ayushman scheme may get their Golden Card made with the help of Ayushman Mitra at rural and urban community health centers at Chowkaghat, Shivpur and Durgakund; SSPG Kabirchaur­a, District Women’s Hospital, LBS Ramnagar; DDU Pandeypur and Mental Hospital in the district, he said. They could also get their card through common service centre. This golden card is being made free of cost, the CMO said.

Moreover, deputy chief medical officer and nodal officer of Ayushman Bharat in Varanasi, Dr Piyush Rai, said Ayushman Cards of 1,00,626 families had been made under Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojna (PMJAY) and of 13,071 families under Chief Minister Jan Arogyay Abhiyan (CMJAA). He said this at the launch of the Ayushman

Card fortnight campaign.

Dr Rai said that there were 1, 14,419 identified beneficiar­ies of PMJAY and 19,817 of CMJAA in the district. Of them, Ayushman Cards of 1,00,626 families had been made under PMJAY and of 13,071 under CMJAA. “So far 61,147 beneficiar­ies have been given free treatment in the district under the scheme,” he said.

CSC district manager Arvind Kumar Maurya said that the beneficiar­ies might get their Golden Card made through common service centers situated in every gram panchayat and every ward in cities. District coordinato­r Harsh Narayan Singh said that the eligible beneficiar­ies of Ayushman Bharat should get the Ayushman card made at the earliest; otherwise, it might be difficult to get advantage of this scheme in future.
