PRAYAGRAJ: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), probing the brutal murder of Dr Shashwat Pandey of Elanganj area in Prayagraj, has declared a cash reward of Rs 7 lakh for the arrest of the murder accused. Dr Shashwat was stabbed to death by his roommate at Saint Stephen’s Hospital, New Delhi, three years back.

The investigative agency has released a notice and posters of the murder accused on social media and in several newspapers.

Dr Shashwat was the only son of a doctor couple of Elanganj area. Despite all efforts, the accused Suyash is still at large and all attempts to trace him by CBI and local police have turned futile. Now, the CBI has released posters of Suyash declaring a reward of Rs 7 lakh on his arrest.

Dr Shashwat’s father Dr Sanjay Pandey died of Black Fungus infection during the second wave of Covid.

According to police, Dr Sanjay and Dr Shalini Pandey’s only son Dr Shashswat was studying radiology at St Stephens College in Delhi.

His room partner Dr Suyash, who was a gay, made advances to him which was repulsed by Dr Shashwat, and it resulted in a scuffle between them. In the night of August 24, 2017, Dr Suyash stabbed Dr Shashwat to death with a surgical knife before fleeing from the hospital. His car was later recovered outside Anand Vihar Bus stand, Delhi. His bank records revealed that he withdrew Rs 5 lakh cash before he fled Delhi.

Police continuously raided his residence in Kanpur besides the houses of his relatives but failed to trace him. Later, the case was handed over to CBI which had earlier declared a reward of Rs 1 lakh on him.
