NCR REGISTERS GROWTH IN ORIGINATING FREIGHT LOADING
PRAYAGRAJ: Freight loading by North Central Railway (NCR) in July 2021 has shown an improvement of 8% as compared to July 2020, said NCR officials.
NCR loading figures touched 1.48 million tonnes (mt) in July 2020. On a cumulative basis in Financial Year 2021-22, NCR originating loading from April to July has been 5.8 mt against 4.62 million tonnes in the same period in 2020, an increase of 24.89 %, informed chief public relations officers (CPRO) of NCR Shivam Sharma.
On the other hand, corresponding revenue earned by NCR in the first four months of current financial year touched Rs 579.02 crore, against earnings of Rs 495.24 crore in the corresponding period of previous year, an increase of almost 17%, he shared.
Among the major commodities which have contributed in the growth in July 2021 are cement, fertilizers, ballast, food grains and DOC. An important traffic of cement from ICD Dadri has been captured recently by NCR.
Container traffic, however, showed a minor dip this month, officials said.
As a result of aggressive marketing through various incentive schemes and improvement in infrastructure undertaken in various goods shed, NCR is able to attract more traffic to be carried through rails, they added.
While addressing an introductory meeting with top officers of NCR, general manager of NCR Pramod Kumar had discussed the loading performance and pointed that NCR had more potential to perform and this potential needed to be tapped. Kumar had further advised that last six months loading performance should be analyzed and all-around efforts should be made to surpass the monthly average figures thus received.
