Cops at women helpdesks uniting couples
PRAYAGRAJ: : Women help desks set up at different police stations of the district are proving helpful as women cops posted at these helpdesks are helping resolve problems and uniting couples through counseling.
During last few days, the women cops have successfully counseled many couples and reunited them. The couples from all sections of the society and even from well off families who have some or the other issues come to the police station with their complaints.
With better training to women cops under Mission Shakti, they are able to counsel the women and sort out their problems including matrimonial disputes, officials said.
“Women help desk is proving to be of great help in sorting out problems of women across the city and even in rural areas as women feel comfortable with female cops in communicating their problems. Women help desks are continuously at work for disposal of complaints of women, said superintendent of police (SP city) Dinesh Kumar Singh.
“Besides sorting out other problems, woman cops at help desks are also counseling couples who have dispute among themselves for some reason or the other. With better counseling, dozens of couples have been reunited successfully during last few days,” SP city added.
“Under Mission Shakti, women cops were trained for providing better solution to problems of women. The help desks are solving issues between couples from all sections of the society and reuniting them. Even many complex issues have also been sorted out with better counseling advice” he said.
Two days back, Raheema and Salman (name changed) of Manda returned happily from Manda police station after being counseled by women cops at women help desk.
Raheema has approached the helpdesk after regular scuffles with Salman. The help desk cops called the couple and spoke to them. After learning about the issues, the women cops counseled the duo separately and sorted out the dispute.
A day earlier, another couple from well off background was reunited after being counseled by women help desk at woman police station.
The couple has minor issues but lack of communication between them has made it serious.
Besides, couples were also counseled and reunited at Atarsuiya, Shivkuti, Phaphamau, Kareli and other police stations successfully through quality counseling by trained women cops.
Moreover, other complaints of women are being regularly disposed of at women help desk by women cops who are on duty round the clock in different shifts.
