UP has lot of potential for investment: US embassy official

LUCKNOW: Companies in the US are talking about Uttar Pradesh after the state went up the ladder in terms of ease of doing business and the Indo-American Chamber of Commerce will help bring more investment to the state, said Michael Rosenthal, Office Director, US Embassy, on Friday.

Rosenthal was here as chief guest at the launch of Lucknow chapter of the Indo-American Chamber of Commerce.

“Uttar Pradesh is a big state. It has a lot of potential for investment. It has lot of human potential,” Rosenthal told HT.

On willingness of the US companies to invest in the state, Rosenthal said: “A lot of companies in the US are taking about Uttar Pradesh. This changed scenario is due to easy of doing business in the state.”

Commenting on potential areas of investment, Rosenthal said: “Cooperation in defence sector, information technology and many other avenues are available for the US companies to invest in Uttar Pradesh.”

On Defence Corridor project in Uttar Pradesh, Rosenthal said: “Private companies in US are discussing about it (Defence Corridor). Military cooperation and sharing of technology are possible by the US companies in Uttar Pradesh.”

On the role of Indo-American Chamber of Commerce in Uttar Pradesh, Rosenthal said: “The Chamber will facilitate US investment in the state. It will provide a platform to the US companies to invest in Uttar Pradesh and vice versa.”

The US embassy official hoped for a good relationship between US companies and the Uttar Pradesh government and was sure of more investment to flow from the US to UP.
