Prayagraj woman runner completes B’luru stadium run, clocks 82.91km in 12 hours
THE RUN STARTED AT 5PM ON AUGUST 7 AND ENDED AT 5AM THE NEXT DAY
PRAYAGRA: : Major Farah Deeba, a 40-year-old ace long-distance runner from Prayagraj and administrative officer of 6 UP Girls’ Battalion of National Cadet Corps (NCC), has successfully completed the stadium run held at Bengaluru on August 7-8. She ran continuously for 12 hours covering the distance of 82.91 kms.
After returning to Prayagraj from Bengaluru, Maj Deeba said, “The run started at 5pm on August 7 and ended at 5am the next day. At an average speed of 8.21 km/hr, I completed the run which was my second one this year. The first one was the Chandigarh stadium run which was held in March 2021 wherein I ran 70.62km in 12 hours.”
Maj Deeba, a mother of two sons, has been a regular participant in several major long distance runs of the country, including the Indira Marathon which is held in November in Sangam city.
She is also one of the founding members of the Prayagraj Pacers, a group of female fitness enthusiasts from the city, who often undertake long distance runs along with routine yoga, cycling and other forms of exercises.
According to Maj Deeba, for participating in stadium run, the contestant must have completed a full marathon of 42.195 km within 5 hours and 30 minutes in the past 2 years. Along with this, the runner should have completed an ultra-run within 7 hours in the past 2 years.
Stadium runs are specially curated for seasoned runners and fitness enthusiast as it provides a track to those looking for getting their own impressive show in mileage and timing.
This run also offer programs such as team run for corporates and running groups who make this up a part of their training and fitness plan in a way to encourage and motivate them.
The 8th edition of Bengaluru stadium run was held at Jayaprakash Narayan Rashtriya Yuva Kendra, Vidyanagar, Bengaluru.
