PRAYAGRAJ: Bodies of a 35-yearold-woman and her three children found in stone quarry filled with rainwater in Lalapur area were handed over to their kin after a post-mortem examination on Monday.

The examination suggested that their deaths were caused due to drowning.

SSP Sarvshrestha Tripathi also visited the village and questioned locals. The husband and in-laws of the woman had been taken into custody and were being questioned, police said.

The bodies of the woman and her two daughters aged 13 and 11 along with her 8-year-old son were found on Sunday morning.

Investigations revealed that woman’s husband worked in a private company in Naini area. She left home after a tiff with her in-laws on Saturday night.

Locals spotted the bodies in the quarry the next morning. Although police believe that the woman committed suicide with her children in a fit of rage, her father lodged an FIR of murder against woman’s husband and five of his kin, including his mother and sister, at Lalapur police station. He alleged that his daughter and her children were murdered by her husband and in-laws. SHO Lalapur Manish Kumar Tripathi said that the husband and in-laws of the woman were being questioned further.
