Girl injured as miscreants attempt to snatch her mobile

PRAYAGRAJ : Unidentifi­ed bike-borne miscreants dragged an 18-yearold student in a bid to snatch her mobile . Although the culprits failed to snatch the mobile, the woman received injuries and was shocked. Police launched a search for the miscreants after scanning CCTV footage.

According to reports, a resident of Pritam Nagar locality Neha was going to her coaching institute in the afternoon.

She a park in the area when two miscreants came from behind and tried to snatch her mobile from her hand. In a bid to take away her mobile, the miscreants caught her hand due to which Neha was dragged to some distance and then fell down on the road.

The incident resulted in injuries on her head and hands. Residents of the area rushed to the spot but the miscreants fled on their bike. SHO Dhumanganj Tarkeshwar Rai collected CCTV footage in a bid to identify the goons. He saidthat the girl did not inform police as the miscreants failed to snatch the mobile.

However, after receiving the informatio­n from locals, an investigat­ion was being carried out, he added.

Abducted boy’s body still missing, two more held

Despite massive efforts by different police teams, the body of 12-year-old Ankit who was allegedly abducted for a ransom of Rs 30 lakh, could not be recovered from Mirzapur-Koraon border where his abductors claimed to have thrown it.

Meanwhile, names of two more persons involved in the incident surfaced on Friday during questionin­g from the accused arrested by police. The duo was also taken into custody but the body was still to be recovered, police said.

It is worth mentioning that Andawa resident Mool Chandra’s son Ankit was abducted on August 19. The abductors called the family for ransom on August 25.

Following complaint by the boy’s father, police lodged an FIR and traced two suspects through mobile surveillan­ce. They confessed to have murdered Ankit and thrown his body on Mirzapur-Koraon border. SP protocol Kuldeep Singh, who is in-charge as SP trans-Ganga, said two more suspects were rounded up for questionin­g in this connection. Despite a massive search operation in the forest area, the body of Ankit was still to be recovered. The suspects were being questioned further , he added.
