KV students to discover unsung heroes, make documentary videos
A five-member committee at the school and regional level will be formed for this task
PRAYAGRAJ : As Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS) has proposed to bring out a unique “e-book/video book” of all unsung heroes who sacrificed their lives for the nation as part of the ongoing celebrations ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ to mark 75 years of India’s independence next year, its students will now strive to discover such heroes in various fields.
Under the initiative, the students will undertake this mission under guidance of their teachers and make a documentary video and also prepare a write-up both in Hindi and English and then submit them for consideration, say KVS officials. The best among them would become part of the “e-book/video book”, they add.
“A missive in this regard was sent by KVS deputy commissioner/director Anurag Yadav to all KVS regional offices on August 18. The missive lists in detail the initiative and urges officials and teachers to support students undertake this mission at the school level,” said Rajeev Tiwari, principal, KV Old Cantonment, Prayagraj. “Participation of students in this creative venture is being encouraged,” he added.
The letter, a copy of which is with HT, points out that there may be numerous forgotten historical evidence, folk tales and anecdotes of such people who had contributed to the nation building but their contribution remains known only in the neighbourhood.
“We feel proud to be acquainted with such unsung heroes who have brought our culture and civilization to the limelight in the world arena through their deeds. It is a proof that such events and not so well recorded acts of the people too had their importance in the history of the nation. Finding such people in the neighbourhood and bringing them to prominence will build a research aptitude among students and develop a sense of history,” the missive adds.
While stressing that the mission to bring out an “e-book/ video book” on such individuals can be successful only with the concerted efforts of students, teachers, school leaders and stakeholders of KVS, the missive also instructs all deputy commissioners and the principals of the regions to ensure that the necessary resources, technical, financial assistance and permission letters are made available to the team concerned so that the task assigned by commissioner, KVS (HQ), is completed in time.
A five-member committee at the school and regional level will be formed for this task.
The principal concerned will be the nodal officer at the school level and history lecturer, teacher of social science, headmaster of the primary section and lecturer of computer will be members of the panel.
At the regional level, the assistant commissioner will be the nodal officer, the letter says.
