Olympians Gurjit and Nisha promoted as OSDs in Rlys
PRAYAGRAJ: : Gurjit Kaur and Nisha Warsi, who represented the Indian women hockey team at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and helped their team reach semifinals, have been given out of turn promotion by North Central Railways (NCR).
As per a promotion order issued on Tuesday, Gurjit Kaur has been posted as Officer on Special Duty (OSD) Sports-1 Headquarters while Nisha Warsi has been promoted and posted as OSD Sports-II Headquarters. Both the promotion orders are to be effective from August 8, 2021,” informed Shivam Sharma, chief public relation officer (CPRO) of NCR.
Till now, Gurjit was posted as senior clerk in personnel department of Prayagraj division while Nisha was posted as senior clerk in commercial department of the Prayagraj division of NCR, he added.
The NCR GM Pramod Kumar congratulated both the players on their promotion as officers and said that NCR was proud of them. He wished them good luck for future.
Notably, both the players were given a warm welcome by NCR upon their arrival in Prayagraj after returning from Tokyo Olympics on August 20 with general manager, NCR, Pramod Kumar felicitating them.
Indian women’s hockey team had created history in Tokyo Olympics by beating the Aussies and storming into the maiden semifinals. Gurjit Kaur was the lone goal scorer of this crucial match. Gurjit has been playing the role of a defender and is considered a penalty specialist in the Indian women’s hockey team as a drag flicker, a label she well lived up to in the crucial encounter against Australia.
