PRAYAGRAJ : A cop at Kareli police station took pains to reunite a 75-year-old woman with her family and even ensured that she was being taken care of properly until her kin could be found.

The septuagenarian woman, who had left for her daughter’s place on Thursday (September 2), forgot the way and was found sitting at a crossing by some local youths who informed police of it. On Monday, the aged woman was reunited with her son who thanked the cops for their efforts. As per reports, some youths spotted a lonely old woman near Karamat Ki Chowki crossing in Kareli area on Thursday evening. When they asked the woman her address and name of her kin, she could not give any clear information about them. The youths then called constable Nasir Kamal of Kareli police for helping the woman. Nasir also spoke to her but he too failed in getting the address from her. Then Nasir took help of a social activist Mohd Saif.

The duo took the woman to Saif’s house where they ensured that she was being taken care of.

Nasir again talked to the woman and learnt that her name was Razia Begum and she had lost her way. The cop also managed to learn from her that she resided somewhere near Munna Masjid in Gaus Nagar area. Nasir immediately launched a search for her kin and on Monday learnt that one Nuruddin was searching for her mother. The constable then traced Nuruddin and took him to the woman where he identified her as her missing mother. Nuruddin informed the police that he had tweeted to senior police officials about her mother. SHO, Kareli police station, Anurag Sharma said the police traced the woman’s kin and took care of her.
