TWO FIRS AGAINST OWAISI IN BARABANKI
LUCKNOW : All India Majlis-eItthehad-ul-Muslimeen (AIMIM) national president Asaduddin Owaisi was booked for causing enmity between groups and disrespecting the national flag in two FIRs (First Information Reports) lodged in Barabanki district of Uttar Pradesh on Thursday, police officials said on Friday
The FIRs were lodged hours after Owaisi addressed a public meeting in Barabanki district.
Confirming the development, superintendent of police (Barabanki) Yamuna Prasad said, “The first FIR against Owaisi and organisers of public meeting has been registered under IPC sections 153A (promoting enmity on ground of religion, race, etc.), 188 (disregarding order of a public servant), 269 (negligent act likely to spread disease dangerous to life), 270 (malignant act likely to spread infection of disease) and the Epidemic Act.”
Owaisi had reportedly said at the public meeting, “The 100year-old Ram Sanehi Ghat mosque was razed by the administration and its debris were also removed.”
This claim, according to the superintendent of police, is contrary to the facts and was meant to spread enmity.
Later in the night, another FIR was lodged against Owaisi and the organisers for insulting the national flag during the public meeting, said the SP. Owaisi and the organisers have been accused of wrapping the tricolour on a pole at the dais during the meeting instead of unfurling it, according to the police.
