Gang of cyber fraudsters busted, 2 held

PRAYAGRAJ: Cyber Crime police of Prayagraj range busted a gang of inter-state cyber fraudsters and recovered gadgets used in crime along with bank-related documents.

The gang was involved in an online fraud worth Rs 1.74 lakh for which an FIR was lodged at the cyber police station a few months back. The cash in their bank account has been frozen, police said.

SHO of cybercrime police station inspector Rajeev Kumar Tiwari said a team of the cyber police station under sub-inspector Anuj Kumar Tiwari after investigat­ions arrested two persons who were identified as Mohd Anwar (43) and Shahid Parwez (31) of Mau district.

A laptop, card reader, net setter, 4 ATM cards, 7 passbooks of different banks, 5 cheque books, three Aadhaar cards, 2 mobiles, a forged cheque, 3 PAN cards, a courier receipt and a diary containing details of bank accounts of different persons were recovered from their possession.

Questionin­g from them revealed that Anwar and Shahid were part of a gang whose network was spread across Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Jharkhand. The kingpin of the gang Ajeet Kumar is based in Bihar works with one Prashant Thakur. Anwar and Shahid used to collect bank account, ATM card and other details of bank customers in Uttar Pradesh and send them to Ajeet in Bihar through courier.

Shahid also used to open bank accounts on forged documents to transfer cash from accounts of online fraud victims. The duo was being questioned further, Tiwari added.

Two held with sedative syrups, injections

The Naini police on Friday arrested two persons with sedative syrups and injections which they were going to supply to youths in the district. An FIR was lodged against them under NDPS Act and other relevant sections of IPC, police said.

Additional Inspector of Naini police station Anil Kumar Singh said acting on a tip-off, the police team carried out a raid and arrested Neeraj Patel and Anoop Patel of Chaka Road.

At least 200 bottles of sedative syrups and 200 sedative injections along with 152 syringes were recovered from them. The duo informed the police team that they were going to sell the sedatives to addicted persons.

The accused were being questioned further in this connection, Singh said.
