PRAYAGRAJ: A poultry farm owner was detained by the police and later quizzed by the anti-terrorist squad (ATS) barely a day after he appeared on social media and claimed his innocence about his alleged involvement in a terror network.
However, the youth who was kept at an undisclosed location was later let off after the police and ATS found no evidence of his involvement in any terror activity, officials said. An explosive box found from his poultry farm had led to him being treated as a terror suspect.
On Saturday, the youth had done a facebook live claiming that he was innocent. He said that two persons Zeeshan Qamar and Humaid-ur-Rehman had given him the box and asked him to keep it at his poultry farm and he came to know that the box contained an IED only when ATS raided his farm.
The youth later said that he met Zeeshan and Humaid-urRehman at a ‘Khajur’ festival and was offered a job by them at Kanpur. On Saturday evening, the youth was detained by the Kareli police and was taken to an undisclosed location where he was questioned for long hours by ATS and intelligence officials regarding his role in the terror network.
Police officials said the youth was handed over to his family after questioning. “He has been asked not to leave the city until investigations were over,” they added.
