DEHRADUN: Days after the death of Akhara Parishad head Narendra Giri at an ashram in Prayagraj, member of parliament (MP) from Unnao, Sakshi Maharaj, claimed on Sunday that Giri was “murdered” while terming his suicide note as “fake.”

“Narendra Giri could never commit suicide...He was murdered. The probe by the CBI in the case will reveal the truth soon and prove this,” Maharaj told media persons during an event in Haridwar, which was attended by chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami.

Maharaj said, “I knew Narendra Giri very well as he was my close friend. He was a brave man and could never think of committing suicide. I will soon meet the CBI director along with other seers and urge him to finish the probe soon to bring out the truth.”

He also termed the suicide note found from the crime spot as “fake” while raising questions on Giri’s security guards present at the time of the incident.

“Giri had more than 12 security guards. Where were they, what were they doing at the time of incident? Despite their presence, how did this happen? These are all very serious questions which need to be answered.

We are hopeful that CBI will clear the air over all these questions,” said Maharaj.

While questioning the suicide of the head of the governing body of the akhadas, he also claimed that days before the incident, a property worth ₹25 crore was sold. “It needs to be found what happened in that deal. The CBI will bring out the truth,” said Maharaj.
