Three arrested for wine shop waiter’s murder in Gorakhpur

GORAKHPUR: A day after wine shop waiter Manish Prajapati, 25, was beaten to death by some miscreants over a dispute related to payment for liquor, police on Saturday arrested three criminals involved in the incident.

Hunt was on to arrest the other accused, senior superinten­dent of police Vipin Tanda informed.

Those who have been arrested include Yuvraj Pandey alias Ekansh Pandey, Deepu Tiwari and Abhishek Kashyap, all residents of Singhadia in Gorakhpur.

A case against 14-15 people under IPC Sections 302 (murder) , 147 ( punishment for rioting) , 323 (voluntaril­y causing hurt) and 504 ( intentiona­l insult) was lodged following the incident at Ramgarh Tal police station.

The incident had taken place on Thursday night, just three days after the Kanpur realtor was allegedly murdered during a police raid at a hotel which falls under the same police station where the waiter’s murder took place.

As per reports, some men entered a model wine shop and ordered liquor. An altercatio­n ensued when the miscreants refused to pay and started beating Manish in a packed shop, as other employees escaped fearing for their lives.

The CCTV footage on the basis of which the police identified the accused, showed five to six goons knocking down waiter Manish Prajapati and then beating him repeatedly with sticks.

When another employee Raghu came to his rescue, he was also thrashed.

In this case, the name of brother of Pankaj Rai, former Students Union president of DAV College had also surfaced as accused.
