NER bags all-India 2nd position with electrification of 561km route
GORAKHPUR : North Eastern Railways, headquartered in Gorakhpur, under which 500 stations of three divisions—Lucknow, Varansi and Izzatnagar Zones fall, has electrified over 561.31km route this year, an all time high since its inception, setting up a record and bagging second position in all-India in the route electrification work, GM NER VK Tripathi informed on Wednesday.
Addressing a press conference to highlight the achievement, the GM told that so far 561.31 km route has been electrified, while gauge conversion was also happening at an unprecedented pace despite challenges caused by pandemic.”
While electrification of Shahjahanpur-Pilibhit route has been completed, the work, on Sitapur-Parsandi (18 km), Malhaur-Dollyganj (12.62 km), Sahatwar- Ballia (17.73 km), Fekna-Karimuddinpur (22 km) route is underway. The work of doubling of track in Bhatni and Pivkol is also continuing at a fast pace.
In 2021, doubling work of Audihar-Ghazipur (40km), Ballia-Fekna (12.53km), and Kachchwa-Gyanpur (29.06) km has been completed.
Keeping in view the safety of rail employees and their families, single vaccine shots have been administered to 46,776 serving employees and 54,337 dependents and retired railway employees. While 23,934 employees and 36,996 dependents and retired personnel have been administered both the shots.
This year, ahead of the festive season, the NE railways is offering 78 days ‘productivity based’ bonus to Group C and D employees to boost their morale. The maximum bonus amount will be of ₹17,951.
Previous year too, a fund of ₹69.55 crores was earmarked as gift bonus to Group C and D employees. The GM further told that NER has also given jobs to dependent of 109 employees, who lost their lives during Covid pandemic, while 364 serving employees got promoted.
In corona pandemic, the hospitals of NER served people and recently an oxygen plant with capacity of 500 litres per minute was set up in the hospital of Izzatnagar division. While in the wake of possible third wave, which is said to cause more harms to children, a 16 bed paediatric ward has been set up in Gorakhpur’s Lalit Narayan Mishra hospital.
