AU registers fall in admission seekers this year
PRAYAGRAJ : There has been a decline in the number of admission seekers at Allahabad University (AU) in the new 2021-22 session. Out of the total of 1,77,726 candidates, who had registered themselves to take part in the admission process, only around 1,00,420 students filled in the online application forms till Thursday (October 7)—the last day for submission of forms at the university and its constituent colleges, said university officials.
This is in contrast to the last academic session (2020-21) when 1,30,831 students had filled in the application forms for admission to the central university. Also, 30,411 fewer candidates have applied for admission this time around as compared to last year, reveals admission application figures compiled by the AU’s admission cell.
Chairman, AU admission cell, prof Ashish Saxena said this time 1,925 candidates have applied for admission to courses offered by AU’s Institute of professional Studies (IPS), 6,290 have applied for LLB and BA-LLB courses while 57,520 have applied for admission to various undergraduate courses. Similarly, 24,625 candidates have applied for admission to various post graduate courses.
AU’s admission tests are set to get under way from October 18 and now the work of finalising the entrance exam centres has begun. Varsity officials said a meeting of the entrance cell was held in this regard on Saturday as part of the preparations for the entrance examinations.
Director, admission cell, prof IR Siddiqui said the application process was now complete. He expressed hope that the admit cards for the proposed entrance examination on October 18 would be issued on Monday.

ECC officials said the entrance examination of UG courses will be conducted on October 11 at two centres in the city.
