NCR registers good growth in originating freight, earnings in Q2
PRAYAGRAJ : North Central Railway (NCR) has registered a significant growth in originating freight loading and subsequent revenue earnings in the second quarter of the current financial year. “In second quarter (JulySeptember) of 2021-22, the originating loading has been 4.50 million tonnes as compared to 3.96 million tonnes in the corresponding period last year thereby amounting to an increase of 13.6% over last year,” said NCR general manager Pramod Kumar.
Talking to media persons on Saturday, Kumar said the freight revenue in the second quarter of this financial year was an impressive Rs 453.24 crore against Rs 413.6 crore of the same period last year, amounting to a 9.6% increase.
“Cumulatively, in April-September, 8.82 million tonne was loaded, which is 22.5% increase over 7.20 mt loading during corresponding period last year. Likewise, the originating freight revenue during (April-September) of 2021-22 has been Rs 891.72 crore as against Rs 765.93 crore in corresponding period last year thereby an increase of 16.4 %,” he said. On the dedicated freight corridors (DFC), Kumar said more than 7000 freight trains have plied on the New Bhaupur-New Khurja stretch. On July 1, 2021 the best ever interchange of 44 freight trains at New Bhaupur was attained with Eastern DFC. “Now New Ruma-New Shujatpur section is targeted for commissioning in current financial year,” he added.
He said approximately 96% of mail, express trains of NCR had been resumed since lifting of the restrictions enforced in the wake of the pandemic. “In terms of scheduled mail and express trains, out of 780 trains, 752 have now resumed (96.41%). As for NCR owned mail, express trains, out of 82 trains, 78 have now resumed (95.12%).
