VARANASI: Deputy chief minister Keshav Prasad Maurya said that cow and the Ganga river were the basis of economic prosperity, on Thursday.

“I am a devotee of gau mata (cow mother),” Maurya said at a programme in Gadoli Kamarahiya village along the river Ganga in Mirzapur.

Durga Saptashati (prayers and chants in praise of the goddess) was recited for nine days of Navratri, which was followed by a yajna ceremony on Thursday.

On the occasion, the foundation of a centre of OS Balkundan was laid at Gadoli village on the banks of River Ganga. OS Balkundan Foundation is committed to the empowerment and growth of people by using organic farming, spiritual enlightenment, and Ayurvedic cum Naturopathic treatment.

“We all know how useful Gau mata is for us. From cow dung to urine, from milk to ghee, we get so much from her and we accept everything with religious spirit. Here we will get to know about how to save and serve gau mata,” Maurya said.

“We will also get information about yoga and Ayurveda medicines from here. In the coming days, 108 feet high statue of ‘Gauri Shankar’ will be installed at this place. The people, who come to Kashi, Prayagraj or Vindhyachal to offer prayers to Maa Vindhyavasini, will definitely come here. I am also a devotee of Gau Mata (mother cow) and Maa Ganga. Maa Ganga and Gau Mata are the basis of economic prosperity,” he said.

Sunil Ojha, the founder of OS Balkundan Foundation, said that the foundation will serve the cows and work for promotion of Ayurveda.

BJP’s Kashi region spokesperson Navratan Rathi said the Foundation ran free kitchen for the needy during the Covid-19 crisis.

“Now, the foundation will work to serve the cows and ayurveda,” he said. Maurya also offered prayers at the Vindhyavasini temple in Vindhyachal and also reviewed development projects.
