Man murdered in Kaushambi

PRAYAGRAJ: The body of a brick kiln worker with his throat slashed was found outside his house at Bisara village under Kokhraj area of Kaushambi on Thursday morning.

It is suspected that unidentifi­ed miscreants attacked the worker and killed him late in the night on Wednesday. A case has been lodged against unidentifi­ed assailants and further investigat­ions were on, police said.

According to reports, Devraj Pal, 45 worked at a brick kiln. On Wednesday at around 1 am, other members of the family returned from Durga Puja. Devraj opened the door of the house and then slept outside the house. In the wee hours, family members found Devraj lying in a pool of blood with his throat slashed along with injuries on other parts of the body. Villagers called the police. ASP Samar Bahadur also reached the spot and carried out investigat­ions.

The ASP said that body had been sent for autopsy. Family members had ruled out any enmity of the deceased with anyone. An FIR had been lodged against unidentifi­ed attackers, he added.

Two looters nabbed by GRP

PRAYAGRAJ: The Government Railway Police busted a gang of thieves who used to commit loot and thefts in trains and platforms. Two members of the gang were arrested with looted goods, mobile phones and cash from Rambagh railway station of the city, GRP officials said.

Circle officer GRP Amit Kumar Srivastava said, teams of GRP and RPF were on patrol when they spotted two suspects following a passenger on platform number four of the station. The cops nabbed the two suspects who were identified as Rakesh Kumar Nishad and Hafeezurre­hman of Kaushambi district. Two looted mobile phones, Rs 3000 and other goods stolen from passengers were recovered from their possession. The looters informed police during questionin­g that they committed loot in moving trains and even befriended passengers and gave them eatables laced with sedatives for stealing their valuables.

IT IS SUSPECTED THAT UNIDENTIFI­ED MISCREANTS ATTACKED THE WORKER AND KILLED HIM.
