PRAYAGRAJ: A property dealer, who claimed he was abducted from Prayagraj on October 8, was found unconscious in a gunny bag at a secluded spot near Kamalpur village under the Charwa police station of the neighbouring Kaushambi district on Saturday.

After locals informed the police, he was rushed to the nearest primary health centre where he regained consciousness and shared his alleged plight, the police said.

Arvind Trivedi, station house officer of Charwa police station, said the (alleged) victim was identified as Shivmurat Prajapati, 40, originally a resident of Dahi Numaya village under the Pipri police station limits of Kaushmabi district.

“According to the information shared by Shivmurat, he is a property dealer and on October 8 he was kidnapped by four persons near Ponghat Pul. He claimed that he was kept hostage at an unidentified place for a week.

“His kidnappers tied him up in a gunny bag and left him at a secluded spot near Kamalpur village under Charwa police station on Saturday morning. He was found unconscious by villagers who raised an alarm and informed the police,” the SHO said.

Shivmurat alleged that the kidnappers forced him to put his thumb impression on blank papers before letting him go, he added. The SHO said that Shivmurat’s family was involved in a property dispute and his being found in a gunny bag with his limbs untied make his claims suspicious.

“A missing person’s report in connection with his disappearance has been lodged at the Dhumanganj police station. Further investigation will be handled by the Dhumanganj police,” he added.

Woman, paramour held for recent murders

Police on Saturday arrested the daughter-in-law and her paramour in connection with the murder of a woman and her daughter at Miyan-Ka-Pura village in trans-Yamuna region of the district on October 12.

SP (trans-Yamuna) Saurabh Dixit said the police also recovered the sharp-edged weapons used in the crime. The brotherin-law of the arrested woman has also been nabbed for hiding the stolen jewellery. All three have been sent to jail, he added.

Police said Bajrang Bahadur Patel, 60, his wife Prema Devi, 56, daughter Tanu, 18, and granddaughter Anshika, 8, used to live at Miya-ka-Pura village. Bajrang’s son Chandrashekhar had allegedly committed suicide a few years back. Chandrashekhar’s widow Saloni had remarried Rambabu Patel of Karchana six months ago but her daughter Anshika used to live with her grandparents.

“On the night of October 12, Saloni left the home of her second husband on the excuse of visiting her parent’s residence but got down mid-way at Rampur in Karchana and met her paramour Shobhnath Bind, a resident of Miyan-Ka-Pura village. They reached Miyan-KaPura and sneaked into Bajrang Bahadur’s house from the roof. While Bajrang, Prema and Anshika were sleeping in one room Tanu was sleeping in another room,” the SP said.

The duo locked Tanu’s room and then Saloni attacked Bajranj Bahadur using a sharpedged weapon.

“Then they killed Prema Devi. Hearing their screams, Tanu woke up following which they killed her too. They, however, left Anshika unharmed. Bajrang Bahadur is still fighting for his life in a city hospital.
