Over 1.5 lakh people from across eastern UP are expected to attend the Mahapanchayat
VARANASI: Samajwadi Party (SP) president and former chief minister Akhilesh Yadav will participate in the Poor-OBC-Dalit Mahapanchayat in Haldharpur (Mau district) on Wednesday as chief guest, said Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party (SBSP) vice-president Shashi Pratap Singh.
The SBSP-led Bhagidari Sankalp Morcha, which includes SBSP, Bhagidari Party(P), Bharatiya Vanchit Samaj Party, Bharatiya Manav Samaj Party, Janata Kranti Party (R) and Rashtra Uday Party among others, is organising the Mahapanchayat.
SP’s Mau district unit president Dharmprakash Yadav confirmed the development. “Party president Akhilesh Yadav will attend the Mahapanchayat in Mau on Wednesday,” he said.
SBSP vice-president Shashi Pratap Singh said that all the allies of the Bhagidari Sankalp Morcha had been invited to the Mahapachayat.
On Tuesday, Samajwadi Party’s UP unit president Naresh Uttam Patel, SP MLC Udayveer Singh and SBSP general secretary Arvind Rajbhar reached Mau for the Mahapanchayat and inspected the helipad.
Recently, Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party chief Omprakash Rajbhar met Akhilesh Yadav in Lucknow.
Asked if All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) chief Asaduddin Owaisi would attend the Mahapanchayat,
Singh said, “AIMIM is an ally of the Jan Bhagidari Morcha. Invitation to participate in the Mahapanchayat has been sent to each ally, including Owaisi and he will participate in the event. All allies of the Morcha will sit together and form the strategy for the upcoming assembly elections.”
Singh claimed that over 1.5 lakh people from across eastern UP would attend the Mahapanchayat in which various burning issues like skyrocketing prices of petrol and diesel would be discussed.
The BJP led government promised to implement the social justice committee report. But after the committee submitted its report making important recommendations, the government did not implement it, he said.
Singh said that a caste-based census was the need of the hour and the Morcha strongly demanded it.
