Lt Col Kailash Bansal is AU’s new CoE
ALLAHABAD: A serving officer of Indian Army’s Corps of Signals, Lt Col Kailash Bansal, who is presently on deputation as director in All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE) from June 2018, will be the new controller of examinations (CoE) at Allahabad University (AU). He will take the charge from the present AU CoE Prof Ramendra Kumar Singh, AU officials said.
AU’s executive council— the apex decision-making body of the central varsity—announced the Lt Col Kailash Bansal’s name for the appointment as CoE, recommended by the selection committee in its meeting chaired by AU V-C Prof Sangita Srivastava on Tuesday, and approved the same, said AU PRO Jaya Kapoor.
The important post of controller of examinations has been lying sans a regular appointment since 2018 after Prof HS Upadhyay of AU’s philosophy department stepped down from the post. To ensure that the work did not get affected, the varsity had appointed Prof Ramendra Kumar Singh of varsity’s chemistry department as acting CoE and he had been shouldering this responsibility till now.
In June 2021, AU began efforts to appoint a regular CoE and on the instructions of the vice-chancellor Prof Sangita Srivastava, AU Registrar Prof NK Shukla had issued a formal advertisement for appointment for this post for a period of five years.
