Direct flight from Indore to Prayagraj begins

With the landing of the maiden Indore-Prayagraj flight, Sangam City has attained direct air connectivi­ty with 12 cities of the country.

PRAYAGRAJ: With the landing of the Indigo flight, coming to Sangam city from Indore, on Sunday, Prayagraj now has direct air connectivi­ty to 12 major cities in the country.

With the start of the flight, not only businessme­n of the two cities --Indore and Prayagraj-- will benefit, but religious tourism between the two cities would also get a boost, informed officials.

The maiden flight had 81 passengers arriving at the civil enclave of Prayagraj.

The passengers coming from Indore were given a warm welcome at the airport by the state minister of civil aviation Nand Gopal Gupta ‘Nandi’ and BJP MP from Phulpur, Keshari Devi Patel.

The aviation minister Gupta said that the Prayagraj airport has been setting new records for the past three years. In a short period, 12 important cities have got direct air connectivi­ty with Sangam city. In the coming days, direct air connectivi­ty would start for some more cities as well, he claimed.

He said that before the formation of the Yogi-led government in the state, there was only one flight from Prayagraj to Delhi, but now there are flights to 12 cities.

After the constructi­on of the new terminal, the airport saw a record footfall of more than 10 lakh passengers in a year. Earlier, Nandi and MP Keshari Devi Patel also cut a cake to celebrate the occasion.

On its journey for Indore, the ATR class flight from Prayagraj took off at 12:09 pm and reached Indore at 2:08 pm. The plane departed for Prayagraj at 2:45 pm and landed at the Civil Enclave, Bamrauli, at 4:32 pm.

The regional director of Airport Authority of India (AAI), Anchal Prakash and staff from Indigo were present on this occasion. Union aviation minister Jyotiradit­ya Scindia virtually flagged this aircraft from Indore.

In another important developmen­t, the Pune-Prayagraj flight also resumed. The flight operations were suspended for 16 days due to the repair of the runway at Pune airport, last month.

Meanwhile, the winter schedule for flight operations here at Prayagraj has been implemente­d. Because of this, the timing of flights has been changed.
