PRAYAGRAJ: The Civil Lines police have forwarded its report for cancellation of arms licences of former Phulpur Samajwadi Party MLA Saeed Ahmad and his son in view of their criminal antecedents.

SP (city) Dinesh Kumar Singh said around a half–a-dozen cases were registered against the former MLA, including that of fraud, while his son was wanted in an alleged case of rape.

“They have three guns against two arms licences. Action is being taken on basis of their criminal record and further action will be taken after approval of the district magistrate,” he added.

On the complaint of a woman, Civil Lines police had in September lodged an FIR for rape, loot and issuing threats against Kavi Ahmad, the younger son of the MLA. The accused is yet to be arrested.

It has been alleged that the accused befriended the woman while changing his name and raped her on pretext of marriage by giving her sedatives in 2018. She also accused the MLA’s wife and daughter of assaulting her and of conspiracy, police officials said.

Station house officer (SHO) of Civil Lines police station, Shishupal Sharma said, “On her complaint, an FIR of rape, loot and under other relevant sections of Indian Penal Code (IPC) had been registered. A search is under way for the accused.”

In her complaint, the woman claimed that she was preparing for Miss India pageant and used to run a gym in Civil Lines. In 2018, she came in contact with Kavi Ahmad who befriended her by changing his name. The accused took her to Lucknow on pretext of running a beauty parlour. Here, the accused exploited her sexually while giving her sedatives. He made obscene videos of her and started blackmailing her.

The woman has alleged that she returned home in Prayagraj but the accused followed her. He even outraged her modesty at gunpoint in Prayagraj and assaulted her. However, former MLA Saeed Ahmad claimed that the woman had borrowed Rs 6 lakh from his son for running a beauty a parlour.

“She has lodged a fake FIR when she was asked to return the money. Video footages are available in which the woman can be seen hitting herself. My family is being framed over political enmity,” he had said then.
