Boys’ High School celebrates 160th Founder’s Day
PRAYAGRAJ: Established in 1861, Boys’ High School (BHS) and College celebrated its 160th Founder’s Day with great joy and enthusiasm, on Monday.
On this occasion, an impressive Thanksgiving Service was held at the historic All Saints’ Cathedral to pay homage to those who founded this one of the greatest learning seats in the country. The Thanksgiving Service was attended by principals, teachers and students of BHS, its annexe, Holy Trinity School (HTS) and its sister institution, Girls’ High School (GHS) and College.
Keeping in view, the Covid-19 norms, only select students and teachers attended the Thanksgiving Service at the All Saints’ Cathedral.
Dressed in school uniform, the students marched in unison all the way to the All Saints’ Cathedral from their respective educational institutions to offer Thanksgivings to the founders. The BHS squad was led by the school captain, Om Mukherjee while the Girls’ High School squad was led by the head girl, Ananya Agarwal.
The Thanksgiving Service commenced as the Principals of BHS and GHS entered the Cathedral to the strains of the hymn “Joyful, joyful we adore thee.”
The cross-bearer and the flag bearers walked solemnly up to the aisle where they handed over the colours to the Bishop, Diocese of Lucknow, Rt Rev Peter Baldev.
The school flags were blessed by the Bishop.
The ceremony began with a prayer by the Presbyter of All Saint’s Cathedral, Rev Vinita Eusebius. This was followed by the reading of passages from the Holy Bible by the Principals of BHS and GHS, DA Luke and Rev V Eusebius respectively.
Bishop, Diocese of Lucknow, Rt Rev Peter Baldev said, that the principals and teachers of educational institutions have a great responsibility in instilling moral values and developing the character of the students.
