Sidhdharthanagar to host five-day Kapilvastu Mahotsav from Nov 20
GORAKHPUR : Performances by singers like Sukhvindra Singh and Khesari Lal will be part of five-day long Kapilvastu Mahotsav scheduled between November 20 and 24 in Sidhdharthanagar district, said a top official.
“Since we are celebrating Amrit Mahotsav on completion of 75 years of Independence, theme of Amrit Mahotsav will also be incorporated in the proposed mahotsav, preparation of which has been almost completed. I hope this will be best mahotsav ever in Kapilvastu,” said Sidhdharthanagar district magistrate Dipak Meena on Monday after a review meeting with officials.
He said poetry by Waseem Barelvi and comedy night by Raju Srivastava along with performances by folk artistes, school children and local artistes will be other highlights of the cultural extravaganza.
Located in Sidhdharthanagar district, Kapilvastu is known as place where Lord Budhdha spend 29 years of his early life and the stupas from where his relics were recovered during an excavation.
Food stalls, decorative items, including Gorakhpur’s famous terracotta products, Saharanpur’s furniture, brass items, potteries, jewelleries stalls and swings for children will be added attraction for visitors.
Besides, various online competitions, including logo designing, photography, essay, T-shirt merchandise, documentary making have also been planned during the mahotsav.
Meanwhile, social media networks like Facebook and Instagram are being used to publicize the event among masses . Also, proper security arrangements have been put in place at the venue, the DM said.
