DEHRADUN: The BJP launched a mega public-connect drive in the state on Wednesday, intensifying its campaign for the state assembly elections to be held early next year.

Party state president Madan Kaushik launched the campaign, Ghar Ghar Bhajpa, Har Ghar Bhajpa (BJP in every house), at the BJP Uttarakhand headquarters, in which over 200,000 members of the organisation will reach out to maximum families in the state.

“The campaign will be carried out on a large scale in the state, which will involve over 200,000 party workers and senior leadership, including chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami. We will aim to reach out to all the families in the state,” said Kaushik.

He said the party has distributed campaign kits, including party flags and stickers, to 11,035 booths.

“The party workers will visit the homes of people and tell them about the development works carried out by the BJP government in the last four and a half years. They will also tell people about the development works executed with the help of the Centre under our popular leader and Prime Minister Narendra Modi,” said Kaushik.

He said workers will raise slogans like ‘Ghar Ghar Bhajpa, Har Ghar Bhajpa’ and ‘Ab Ki Baar 60 Paar’ (This time more than 60 seats in the assembly of 70 seats).

“The party has stepped into full election mode with a target to reach out to every house in the state. Under the able leadership of PM Modi, we will win this election with the development works done by our government in the state,” said Kaushik.

Informing more about the programmes of party ahead of the elections, BJP state general secretary Rajendra Bhandari said, “Many senior leaders will visit the state to step up campaign for elections. Party national president JP Nadda will visit the Kumaon region on November 15 and 16. It is also likely that PM Modi and home minister Amit Shah will visit the state in the last week of November or beginning of December.”

He said the five poll in-charges and state unit in-charges will reach the state on November 11.

“The five include party poll in-charge Prahlad Joshi, co-incharges RP Singh and Locket Chatterjee, party state unit in-charge Dushyant Kumar Gautam and state unit co-incharge Rekha Verma. Except Gautam, all four will reach Dehradun on Thursday and he will reach here on Friday. All will then head towards the assembly constituencies they have been entrusted with,” said Bhandari.

He said Singh and Chatterjee have been given responsibility for 20 seats each, while Gautam and Verma will look after 15 seats each.

A senior BJP leader said on the condition of anonymity that the party will hold a high-level meeting to be attended by the in-charges, co-in-charges, chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, state president and general secretaries, among others.

“A meeting of the state working committee is also expected to be held later this month, in which more than 200 party members will be present. We will also soon announce the conveners of all the assembly seats.

“They will pivot party’s management activities ahead of elections and ensure that all the units are activated in preparation for the polls,” the leader said.

“At the meeting to be held on November 12, the party will decide the programmes till December 30.”

The state Congress rejected the BJP’s claims, saying the people of Uttarakhand will defeat the ruling party.

“The BJP did nothing for the state in last four and a half years of its tenure except changing CMs. The people of Uttarakhand won’t forget that and are waiting to teach them a lesson in 2022 elections. The BJP will face defeat,” said Congress state president Ganesh Godiyal.
