DEHRADUN: BJP president JP Nadda on Tuesday said West Bengal is passing through a bad phase under the Trinamool Congress (TMC) rule, accusing the party of “promoting bloodshed, anarchy and corruption” in the eastern state.

Nadda attacked the ruling party of West Bengal while addressing a public event comprising the Bengali community of Rudrapur town of US Nagar district in the presence of chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, Union minister of state for defence Ajay Bhatt, party state president Madan Kaushik, MP Locket Chatterjee, party state unit in charge Dushyant Kumar Gautam, party state co-in charge Rekha Verma and other party leaders.

“Bengal’s has big and significant contribution for the country and world. But it is very hurtful to say that Bengal, which gave direction to India and paved a way for the country’s progress, is going through a very bad phase today under the rule of TMC,” said Nadda.

Accusing the TMC government under chief minister Mamata Banerjee of “gross misgovernance”, the BJP chief said, “Today we are hurt to witness corruption, oppression, political vendetta and anarchy in Bengal. Blood is flowing there with corruption in every development and welfare projects in the state.”

He also alleged that women harassment and rape cases are maximum in West Bengal.

“The TMC government is working with political vendetta which was evident with the cases of sexual harassment and murders in the state after the assembly elections results were declared. A total of 123 cases of sexual harassment and 53 murder cases were reported there which is highly condemnable,” the BJP national president said.

While addressing the members of Bengali community, he earlier hailed the contribution of Bengalis for the country. “Bengalis have been always at the forefront when it came to contribution for social reforms, politics, literature, science, and other fields. I urge you all to first help BJP in returning to power in Uttarakhand and then in Bengal.”

During his address, Nadda also thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for “thinking about the welfare of the oppressed minorities in the neighbouring countries of India.”

“PM Modi brought the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) to give citizenship to the minorities facing religion-based discrimination in neighbouring countries of Bangladesh, Afghanistan and Pakistan,” said Nadda.

“CM Dhami in Uttarakhand under the leadership of PM Modi helped the Bengali community of US Nagar come into the mainstream by removing the word East Pakistan from their caste certificates being issued by the government.”

He said, “I hope the Bengali community will not forget the works done by the BJP government for them and help bringing the party to power again in 2022 elections.”

MP and Uttarakhand poll co-in charge Locket Chatterjee, while addressing the crowd, alleged that “TMC is doing appeasement politics in West Bengal after winning the last assembly elections.”

“Because BJP couldn’t come to power in West Bengal, the mothers and sisters are crying there because of the appeasement politics by TMC. I want to tell you that in Uttarakhand, the situation is different because the BJP government is providing security and prosperity to the Bengali community,” said Chatterjee.

“Hence, I urge you all to ensure that a BJP government is formed in the state in upcoming elections in 2022.”
