FORMER CWC CHAIRMAN HELD FOR RAPING WOMAN

PRAYAGRAJ : Kotwali police on Wednesday arrested Prayagraj’s former child welfare committee (CWC) chairman Kamlesh Yadav for allegedly raping a woman on many occasions on pretext of helping her get back her daughter from her estranged husband.

The woman had approached Kotwali police around a month ago with her complaint following which an FIR was registered against Yadav who went missing thereafter. According to reports, a resident of Kaushambi district, the complainan­t separated from her husband sometime back. Her husband also took away their six-year-old daughter with him. She approached Child Welfare Committee and Yadav assured her help. Yadav then exploited the woman and raped her.

Three held with cattle meant for slaughter PRAYAGRAJ : Industrial Area police on Wednesday arrested three persons and rescued 38 cattle that were being taken for slaughter.

All accused hail from Madhya Pradesh and one of them had previous criminal record in Prayagraj, police said. SHO of Industrial Area police station Sanjeev Kumar Chaubey said acting on a tip-off police team intercepte­d a truck at Mungari Toll early morning. The arrested persons were identified as Aziz Khan, Pintu Ansari and truck driver Munne Khan all residents of Sidhi district of MP.

Boundary wall of ex-minister’s bungalow damaged PRAYAGRAJ : Former minister and ex-member of Planning Commission Ashok Bajpai has lodged an FIR at Kydganj police station against unidentifi­ed persons for damaging boundary wall of his bungalow on Yamuna Bank Road. Bajpai raised fears that it may result into theft and life threat to family members. Police suspects that the damage may have been caused by slum dwellers residing adjacent to the wall. Police said the damage was found in the boundary wall in the rear portion of the bungalow.
