AGRA: The Akhil Bharat Hindu Mahasabha (ABHM), has said it will perform ‘jalabhishek’ (a religious ritual in which water is offered to the deity) after installing an idol of Bal Gopal (the child Krishna) at a site within the Eidgah adjoining the Sri Krishna Janmabhoomi in Mathura on December 6.

There is a dispute over the land where the Eidgah and Sri Krishna Janambhoomi are located side by side in Mathura.

Various litigations are on in the civil courts of Mathura by Hindu organisations and individuals who allege that the Eidgah was built after demolition of a temple by Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb at the site where Lord Krishna was born.“The committee for Akhil Bharat Hindu Mahasabha, in its recent meeting in Mathura, has decided to conduct jalabhishek or offering water to Bal Gopal or idol of Lord Krishna in child form at the actual birthplace of Krishna which is within the Eidgah adjoining the Sri Krishna Janambhoomi on December 6,” said Rajyashree Chaudhary, the national president of Akhil Bharat Hindu Mahasabha on phone.

“We have intimated the Union home secretary through email on 12th November and are preparing the idol to be carried and worshipped which will be placed at the site which is the actual birthplace of Lord Krishna in Mathura. Water from different rivers all over India is to be gathered and offered on December 6, a day we consider auspicious for us,” said Chaudhary who claimed to be the great granddaughter of the sister of freedom fighter Netaji

Subhash Chand Bose.

“In any case, the location where Sri Krishna was born is within the premises of Eidgah and thus is a public place with access for all. It is not a mosque and congregation takes place only twice a year on Eid, thus should not be closed for others in the remaining part of the year. We expect no trouble or hindrance from the district administration when we enter the Eidgah on 6th December,” she stated.

“Chief minister Yogi Adityanath had himself said that those undertaking kar seva now would not be fired upon, as in the past, but flowers would be showered on those going for kar seva. In such a scenario, how can administration go against what chief minister promises,” the ABHM national president said. Only those who are antinational would oppose such an effort, Chaudhary said.

“Leaders and members of Akhil Bharat Hindu Mahasabha from all over the country would gather in Mathura and devotees from the Braj area would join us in kar seva to be conducted on December 6. It is our right to offer prayers there because Sri Krishna was born there. But for no logic, no prayers are offered at this location presently within the Eidgah adjoining Sri Krishna Janambhoomi,” said Chaudhary who had addressed a press conference in Mathura on Tuesday evening on this issue. Chaya Gautam, the Mathura district president of Akhil Bharat Hindu Mahasabha, said preparations have begun for the day. It was on December 6, 1992 when the Babri Mosque was demolished by kar sevaks in Ayodhya. The police and the administration remain alert on December 6 every year.
