PRAYAGRAJ TRAFFIC COPS HELPING IN REPAIR OF POTHOLES TO AVOID MISHAPS

PRAYAGRAJ : As part of the ongoing traffic month, traffic cops besides launching awareness programmes across the district are also identifyin­g potholes on city roads that pose threat to commuters and cause traffic jams and are getting them repaired.

“Potholes on roads are responsibl­e for many road mishaps as riders often loose balance on their vehicles due to jerks and shocks. Potholes are also a cause of traffic jams as drivers slow their speed to avoid jerks and shocks. If they apply sudden brakes it also results in collision with vehicles coming from behind causing scuffles among commuters quite often,” said traffic inspector Harendra Singh.

As part of the initiative, many potholes have been patched up in the last two days and many more will soon be repaired in coming days.

“Special focus is laid on main crossings and roads of the city. After identifyin­g the potholes, help is being taken from Nagar Nigam, Public Works Department (PWD) and National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) to repair and patch up works. During last two days traffic police have helped repairing and patch-up works at New Yamuna Bridge, Bairana Crossing area, Chaufatka Crossing and Naini area. The repair will definitely help controllin­g road mishaps and traffic jams,” he claimed.

Singh said under the traffic month that started on November 1, awareness programmes are being launched across the district and schools, colleges to educate people, especially youths, about traffic rules at ‘police pathshala’.

On Thursday, traffic police carried out a drive among villagers living besides highway in Shringverp­ur area.
