THE YOUTH WAS MURDERED BY HIS HOMOSEXUAL PARTNER AND HIS TWO RELATIVES AS HE HAD DEVELOPED RELATIONS WITH A GIRL IN THEIR FAMILY: POLICE

PRAYAGRAJ: Lalapur police claimed to have cracked the murder of a youth Rashid, whose body was found in a drain around a week back at Basahra village under its jurisdiction. The youth was murdered by his homosexual partner and his two relatives as he had developed relations with a girl in their family, police said.

According to reports, Rashid Ali, 21, son of Vilayat Ali, used to work in Chennai and had come home in Jasra village on leave. On Sunday evening, Rashid left home but failed to return. On Monday morning, Rashid’s body was found in Jhagra Baria drain in the Lalapur area. The post-mortem report revealed that Rashid was assaulted on his head with a heavy object. Later, police also found blood spots at a nearby village, suggesting that Rashid was killed and his body was thrown in the drain. Investigations revealed that Rashid was a close friend of Vivek Pal and often used to visit him. Recently, Rashid had developed relations with a girl in Vivek’s family and despite repeated warnings by Vivek and his kin, he continued meeting her.

On suspicion, Vivek was rounded up by the police and during questioning, he confessed to having killed Rashid with the help of two of his relatives. Vivek informed police that on Sunday night, Rashid was with the girl when Vivek and his relatives Akhilesh and Rambabu Pal spotted him. They attacked Rashid with an iron rod on his head, resulting in his death. The trio then threw his body in the drain to cover up the crime.

SHO of Lalapur police station Manish Kumar Tripathi said Rashid and Vivek were gay and in relation earlier. Vivek was enraged when Rashid distanced himself from him for his female relative. All three accused have been arrested, and the iron rod used in the crime has been recovered, Tripathi added.
