IG stresses maintenance of records, to conduct monthly reviews

-

PRAYAGRAJ: In a bid to control crime and maintain discipline among the personnel, IG, range, Rakesh Singh, has issued strict instructions to maintain monthly records of crimes and other actions at each police station within the range.

The personnel have been asked to preserve and maintain documents at police stations for future references. Besides, the IG range has also asked SSP and SPs of all four districts of the range to maintain a record and give remarks after each inspection of police stations under their jurisdictions.

Singh, who recently took charge, is making surprise inspections at police stations in the range and is scanning documents and records there. While he appreciated the personnel where records were found maintained, he pulled up others at police stations where records and documents were found poorly maintained.

Singh said maintenance of monthly records of crimes and action taken against criminals is essential. It shows the daily routine work at police stations and active policing in the area. Moreover, maintenance of documents is also necessary for future reference. The records will now be reviewed on a monthly basis to check if personnel are active under their jurisdictions.

The IG further said that SSP and SPs have been asked to make an entry of their remarks after each inspection of police stations. Unless there is a record of inspection it cannot be termed as an official visit and leaves no impact on the subordinates. To maintain discipline in the force and keep records in order, official entry of inspections of police stations is necessary, he added.
