Swarnim Vijay Run organised

PRAYAGRAJ: A “Swarnim Vijay Run” was organised along the banks of Ganga in Prayagraj military station under the aegis of Headquarte­rs, Purva UP and MP Sub Area of the Indian army by Ordnance Depot Fort, on Wednesday. The event was held on the theme: ‘Run like a Soldier, Run with a Soldier’.

Overwhelmi­ng participat­ion was received from the city across all age groups and T-shirts with medals were awarded to all participan­ts. The first three winners of all categories were also presented with cash prizes. A grand patriotic and cultural evening was organised at OD Fort.

The ‘Swarnim Vijay Mashal’ was handed over by Maj Gen JS Bainsla, GOC Purva UP and MP Sub Area to Prem Prakash, IPS, ADG Zone, Prayagraj with full military honours at Victory Wall erected in front of Sub Area Headquarte­rs to commemorat­e India’s victory in 1971 war, on

Wednesday. The Vijay Mashal was placed right in front of the mural depicting the signing of the surrender document by General Niazi of Pakistan Army after their defeat in 1971 war and was given a guard of honour.

ADG-Prayagraj expressed gratefulne­ss to the Armed Forces for their selfless service to the nation. The Mashaal was then mounted on a vehicle and the police carried out a road march through the city, which comprised of pilot vehicles and horsemen from the police along with Army and Police band.

The ‘Swarnim Vijay Varsh Victory Flame’ will be received at HQ, Central Air Command on November 26. The Victory Flame started its journey from New Delhi on December 16, 2020 on the occasion of Vijay Diwas to commemorat­e the 50th anniversar­y of the decisive victory in the 1971 War by the Indian Armed Forces.
