Admissions stopped to 19 courses for July 2021-22 session
The decision has been taken in view of the waning interest of students in these courses. The future of these courses will depend upon students’ interest.
PRAYAGRAJ: Uttar Pradesh Rajarshi Tandon Open University (UPRTOU)—the only state open university in UP—has suspended admissions to its 19 different certificate, diploma, post graduate diploma and awareness courses for the session starting July 2021-22. An order to this effect has been issued by the UPRTOU vice-chancellor Prof Seema Singh, say UPRTOU officials.
The decision has been taken in view of the waning interest of students in these courses. Now, the future course regarding these programmes will be decided as per the trend of the students, they add.
Different courses along with awareness programmes are run by the university.
This is done through its vast network of 1300 study centres spread across the state and 10 regional centres located at Lucknow, Bareilly, Agra, Meerut, Kanpur, Jhansi, Noida, Azamgarh, Gorakhpur and Ayodhya besides its Prayagraj-based main campus.
“It is a routine practice to assess the popularity of the courses run by us from time to time and since admissions in these courses were almost negligible, admissions in these have been stopped for the session July 2021-22”, said registrar, UPRTOU, prof PP Dubey while confirming the development.
