ONE ACCUSED ARRESTED, ONE STILL AT LARGE; KIN DEMAND COMPENSATI­ON

PRAYAGRAJ: Even as police teams carried out raids to arrest the two accused involved in the murder of contractor Bachha Yadav, 42, gunned down at a medical store on Lowther Road, late on Wednesday night, enraged family and relatives of Bachha Yadav blocked the road at Baluaghat Crossing on Thursday evening. They demanded compensati­on, a job to a family member and early arrest of the accused. Senior police officials reached the spot and pacified them.

Meanwhile, police teams raided and arrested one of the accused, Rajesh Yadav, and recovered the pistol used in the crime. Two other firearms were also recovered from his house in Ashok Nagar area. CO Ajeet Singh Chauhan said the murder was committed over a monetary dispute.

Earlier, Bachha Yadav’s kin had lodged a named FIR against Mahendra Yadav and Rajesh Yadav and the duo was on the run since after the incident.

Bachha Yadav, a resident of Baluaghat locality of Sangam city, was a Prayagraj Nagar Nigam contractor.

On Wednesday evening, Yadav reached a chemist’s store near MLN Medical College crossing where his aides Mahendra Yadav and Rajesh Yadav were already present.

The trio consumed liquor at the medical store and then had an argument.

Medical store owner Abhay Sinha said he had left the shop for a few minutes and rushed back when he heard gunshots.

A profusely bleeding Bachcha Yadav was rushed to SRN Hospital where he was declared dead on arrival.

SSP Sarvshrest­ha Tripathi, SP city Dinesh Kumar Singh and other police officials reached the spot and carried out investigat­ions. Police recovered many empty cartridges from the spot.
