HARIDWAR: A section of BJP workers and local residents staged a protest against Aadesh Chauhan, BJP MLA from BHEL Ranipur constituency in Haridwar district, over incomplete civic works at Kankhal on Monday.

Protesting residents of Raja Garden colony in Kankhal even warned of not voting for the BJP, if civic works were not completed within next 2 months.

Residents of Raja Garden, Ganpati Dham Phase 1 and 2, Mahendra Vihar, Shivani Puram, Adarsh Nagar and nearby colonies alleged that neither new road laying work, drainage, sewer line nor other civic works has been carried out by the legislator in their areas.

“Aadesh Chauhan is a twoterm legislator from RanipurBHEL but he has been ignoring development works in our area particularly in Raja Garden area. We urge the BJP high command to not give ticket to Chauhan as mass anger is against him. We will be forced to vote against the BJP then,” said Vipul Sharma, a local resident. Chauhan accused some local leaders of trying to tarnish his image by inviting colony residents at the protest site in the pretext of some other purpose.

“Allegations of ignoring the colonies are false and baseless. I have instead carried our several development projects in Kankhal-Raja Garden area. Road from Buddhi Mata temple to Raja Garden, Raja Garden to Jamalpur has been laid on mine proposal only. Piped Natural Gas line and underground power cable connectivity laying has also been done due to my efforts,” said Chauhan.

Taking cognisance of the matter, the BJP district unit is identifying the party workers involved in the protest.

“We will take disciplinary action against such party workers or leaders if found to be involved in such public protests against own public representative,” said BJP district unit general secretary Vikas Tiwari.

On the protest, Congress leader Satpal Brahamchari said such protests were reflective of ill working of BJP legislators as well as anti-BJP resentment among voters which will eventually benefit the Congress in the state polls.
