THE PROBLEMS MAY BE RELATED TO FAMILY, HARASSMENT BY IMMEDIATE SUPERIOR OR A CORRUPTION COMPLAINT.

PRAYAGRAJ: Policemen are now getting online solutions for the problems they face in discharging their duties. From August till November 30, 123 complaints made by cops have been disposed of successfully.

The facility for registering their problems through Whatsapp messages and calls has helped the policemen to convey their problems to senior officials without presenting themselves before them.

The problems may be related to family, harassment by immediate superior or a complaint against corruption.

The helpline number with the Whatsapp facility is also proving to be extremely helpful for women cops, who used to avoid making complaints directly to senior officials.

The women cops are now sending messages and making calls for the disposal of their problems. A complaint is received by a cell formed for this purpose. The complaints are registered and are kept in the records, while help is provided to the complainants. The register is regularly reviewed by senior officials following which appropriate action is taken.

With the modernised complaint cell, a policeman doesn’t have to run from pillar to post with their applications and complaints. Out of the 123 complaints received, only 32 are pending at present.

Officials said that one could also make the complaint anonymously. Complaints regarding anomalies, corruption at police stations can be made without exposing your identity. An enquiry will be carried out into the complaint without revealing the name of the complainant. The Whatsapp number 7839867090 is available for making such complaints.

SSP Sarvshrestha Tripathi said early disposal of complaints of the policemen is being carried out through the cell.

Not only cops, but action is also taken on complaints made by citizens on the helpline number, he added.
