HARIDWAR : Assuring more representation to women candidates in the upcoming assembly election, Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) state president Madan Kaushik on Friday said women leaders and workers play a major role in the party’s working at the grassroots level.

Meeting women party office bearers here, Kaushik said the BJP has always been giving due recognition, respect and representation to women whether it is within the party, government or in the society.

“The BJP is the lone party that gives due respect to the womenfolk. At party grassroots level to state and central cabinet, women representation is ensured. In 2022 too with blessing and support of Matri Shakti (women power), the BJP will retain the power in the state and subsequently in all the five parliamentary constituencies of Uttarakhand in the 2024 general election,” said Kaushik.

On allocation of party tickets, Kaushik said surely women representation will be more this time from previous election as the BJP doesn’t merely talk about women empowerment but also acts on its talk.

Kaushik also dismissed claims of Congress and Aam Aadmi Party leaders of antiBJP wave or anti-incumbency factor present in the state.

“The BJP is set to surpass previous 56 seats tally and will win 60 plus seats in the 2022 election. The Congress should ponder how it will be able to even reach double figure mark and AAP will understand that free or lofty, unrealistic poll promises won’t be enough to win even a single seat in the state,” said Kaushik.

Reacting to this, Congress leader and former state women commission chairperson Santosh Chauhan said it was the Congress which has been prowomen with Indira Gandhi being sole women prime minister of the country while the BJP top leadership as well as the state leadership is all about male domination and for them women are just a vote bank.
