Ghaziabad: 3 kids test covid positive amid Omicron scare

NOIDA: The swab sample of another contact of the 14-yearold girl in Ghaziabad, who tested positive for Covid-19 on Friday, returned positive for the viral infection on Sunday.

Officials from the district health department said two children , who came in contact with the 14-year-old girl, have now tested positive for Covid-19. One of them is the girl’s younger sister aged 10 whose test results returned on Saturday and confirmed her infection. The second contact is a girl aged 14 -- a friend of the 14-year-old girl--who stays in the same residentia­l township in Ghaziabad.

On Sunday, a testing camp was organised at the Crossings Republik township in Ghaziabad, from where five confirmed Covid-19 cases have emerged so far. All the patients are in home isolation.

Among those infected are the 14-year-old girl, who was among the first in the township to have tested positive for Covid-19 on Friday and is now suffering from cough and cold. The girl’s father aged 42, who has a history of travelling from Gujarat to Delhi, her mother (40) and her 10-yearold younger sister tested positive for the disease on Saturday. The girl’s 14-year-old friend is the fifth person in the township to have tested Covid positive on Sunday. The two adult members, who samples returned positive for Covid on Saturday, had taken both the vaccine doses

“About 250 samples were collected at the camp set up at the society on Sunday; others are also being encouraged to take the Covid test. The two families, which have confirmed Covid-19 cases, are in home isolation as of now,” said Dr RK Gupta, district surveillan­ce officer, Ghaziabad.
